Audi Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Audi is a fairly typical mistake. And exactly what you need to do about it depends upon a few things. If you want to know what you need to do to sort it out then continue reading.
Let us discuss the key factors to think about whenever deciding whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put in to the Audi, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your Audi S7 is in most cases around 65 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Diesel, something like 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol S7 will most of the time not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities under 3.25 litres (close to 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is generally able to be sufficiently diluted through entirely topping the remainder of the tank with the right fuel.
It is quite rare to encounter a motor vehicle experiencing difficulties with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Please remember it's infrequent - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are some motor vehicles that don't endure any degree of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the Audi (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. When deciding on whether to chance it and just top it up bear in mind that it is very much like wagering all of it on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything over 6.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol S7 must straight away be drained out as your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is almost certainly less than one in 50 - truly huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Audi and drove it: Have you observed any performance issues ever since putting the wrong fuel in the S7? If so, get it emptied no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive driving an automobile that is already beginning to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will likely cause even more harm being caused to your fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for security?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is always some degree of risk connected to driving a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable implications of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and the like. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them then stop driving and get it removed as soon as possible.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
