BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regular error. And its remedy will depend on an assortment of things. In case you would like to know what you must do to sort it out then keep on reading.
Listed here the most important variables to consider when deciding whether to get the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the BMW, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW 116i is probably approximately 50 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, less than 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 116i will typically not necessarily be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that quantities under 2.5 litres (close to 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being completely diluted by thoroughly topping up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It's quite unusual to find an automobile having problems with lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. You will discover a few vehicles that don't endure any degree of contamination at all.
    2. In between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has shown that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. Any time you're trying to decide whether to chance it and just top it up bear in mind that it is much like betting it all on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 116i must right away be drained out because your probability of driving with this amount of contamination is in all likelihood less than one in fifty - truly long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you observed any performance difficulties after putting the incorrect fuel in the 116i? If that's the case, have it emptied regardless of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a car that is starting to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination can likely bring about progressively more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
In that case get it removed. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some amount of risk in connection with driving a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Likely results of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so on. These are a few of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and if you observe any of them stop and have it removed right away.
