BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a fairly typical problem. And its solution is determined by a variety of factors. If perhaps you would like to know what to do about it then stay with me.
These are the most important variables to think about whenever deciding whether to have the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the BMW, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the BMW 120i is usually about 50 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, as little as 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 120i will generally not really be a big problem. Experience has shown us that quantities less than 2.5 litres (approximately 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is generally capable of being sufficiently diluted by means of thoroughly filling up the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's extremely rare to find a motor vehicle going through issues with less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is infrequently found - in no way impossible to encounter. There are actually some vehicles that will not endure any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the BMW (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our experience has proven that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When deciding whether or not to risk it and just simply fill it up recognise that it is much like wagering your car on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 120i should really straight away be removed since your probability of succeeding with this amount of contamination is very likely less than one in fifty - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you seen any performance problems as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your 120i? If so, get it removed no matter the amount of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive driving an automobile that is now starting to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will probably typically bring about more and more harm being caused to the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want security?
Then get it emptied. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of danger in connection with operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible results of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include things like the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them then cease driving and have it removed immediately.

Don't simply have any unqualified mechanic to try to repair your automobile. We are BMW experts and possess the certification and experience required to ensure that you get back on the road with a minimum of hassle or trouble.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
