BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regularly occurring error. And exactly what you want to do about it is determined by several different things. If you would like to know what you must do about this then keep reading.
Listed here the main factors to consider whenever figuring out whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put into the BMW, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW 320i is probably about 65 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, less than 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 320i will in most situations not be a big problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 3.25 litres (almost 5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is very often able to be sufficiently diluted through entirely topping the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It's rather uncommon to come across a vehicle experiencing problems with below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is rare - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain cars that will not endure any degree of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has shown that as many motorists get away with this as all those who break down. Any time you're deciding on whether to risk it and just simply top it up remember that it is very much like betting everything on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 320i ought to straight away be removed since your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is more than likely less than one in 50 - really huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you spotted any kind of performance problems as a result of putting the bad fuel in your 320i? If so, get it emptied regardless of the amount of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually running a vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will probably just result in progressively more harm affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Do you want assurance?
Simply get it emptied. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably some extent of threat affiliated with running a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible results of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them stop driving and have it drained right now.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
