BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a well-known problem. And its solution depends upon a variety of factors. In the event that you would like to find out what it is best to do to sort it out then read on.
These are the main factors to to consider whenever making a decision whether or not to have it drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in the BMW, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW 330i is in most cases around 63 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 3.15 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 330i will in most situations not really be a big problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 3.15 litres (which is roughly 5% of the overall fuel tank) is sometimes able to be adequately diluted through wholly topping up the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's rather unusual to find an automobile going through issues due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is unusual - definitely not impossible to find. You can get a few vehicles that don't stand any degree of contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.15 and 6.3 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our practical experience has shown us that as many people get away with it as those who don't. Whenever figuring out whether to chance it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is much like wagering everything on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 6.3 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 330i really should as soon as possible be removed as your likelihood of succeeding with that amount of contamination is in all likelihood less than one in fifty - truly long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you seen any performance difficulties ever since putting the wrong fuel in your 330i? If that's the case, have it emptied no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run running a motor vehicle that is beginning to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination will probably definitely result in increasing amounts of damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Would you like security?
Then get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always a certain level of risk caused by operating a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Likely implications of driving on the wrong fuel include things like the motor not starting, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, etc. These are some of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you detect any of them stop driving and have it removed right away.
