BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regularly occurring error. And what you need to do about it is determined by several different factors. Assuming you want to find out what it is best to do to fix it then please read on.
Listed here are the main variables to take into account when deciding on whether or not to have it drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in the BMW, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the BMW 335i is in most cases about 63 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, as little as 3.15 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 335i will most of the time not necessarily be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities under 3.15 litres (5% of the whole fuel tank capacity) is in many instances able to be adequately diluted by thoroughly filling up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It is quite unusual to encounter a car or truck having problems due to less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it's infrequent - not impossible to find. You can get a few automobiles that won't stand any level of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Between 3.15 and 6.3 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has shown that as many people get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you are deciding whether or not to chance it and basically top it up consider that it is very much like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.3 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 335i ought to as soon as possible be drained out because your likelihood of succeeding with this level of contamination is more than likely below one in fifty - extremely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you noted any performance troubles as a result of putting the wrong fuel in your 335i? In that case, get it emptied no matter the quantity of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continually driving an automobile that is beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination will only cause more and more harm being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Are you interested in assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of danger resulting from operating a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel normally include the motor not starting, running lumpy, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you notice any of them stop and get it removed right away.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
