BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regularly occurring error. And what you need to do about it hinges on several factors. If perhaps you want to find out what you have to do to sort it out then keep on reading.
Listed below are the key variables to think about whenever determining whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put in the BMW, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of your BMW 750Li xDrive is in most cases around 82 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, as little as 4.1 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 750Li xDrive will normally not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that anything under 4.1 litres (which is almost 5% of the fuel tank) is very often capable of being completely diluted by means of entirely filling the rest of the tank with the right fuel.
It's pretty unusual to come across a motor vehicle suffering from issues because of under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very rare - certainly not impossible to encounter. You can get some vehicles that will not endure any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 4.1 and 8.2 litres of Diesel in the BMW (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise demonstrates that as many people get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you're deciding whether or not to chance it and just simply fill it up bear in mind that it is the same thing as wagering your car on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 8.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 750Li xDrive must as soon as possible be removed as your likelihood of getting away with this amount of contamination is very likely less than one in fifty - really huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance troubles after putting the incorrect fuel in your 750Li xDrive? If so, get it removed irrespective of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive driving a motor vehicle that is beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination will likely result in more and more damage affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want reassurance?
Simply get it removed. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of threat associated with running a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel include things like the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and the like. These are several of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them stop and get it drained immediately.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
