BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a usual error. And what you need to do about it varies according to several different things. In case you want to know what to do about it then stay with me.
Listed below are the main factors to keep in mind when figuring out whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put into the BMW, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the BMW 760Li is in most cases around 88 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, something like 4.4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 760Li will typically not be a significant problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that an amount under 4.4 litres (about 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is generally able to be adequately diluted by means of wholly filling up the tank with Petrol.
It's quite rare to encounter a motor vehicle suffering from problems with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to find. You can get a number of cars that won't stand any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 4.4 and 8.8 litres of Diesel in the BMW (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our experience has proven that as many people get away with it as all those who don't. Any time you are deciding upon whether to risk it and just top it up recognise that it is just like betting it all on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything above 8.8 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 760Li really should immediately be drained seeing that your probability of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly lower than one in fifty - genuinely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you noticed any performance difficulties ever since putting the bad fuel in the 760Li? In that case, get it drained irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to run driving a vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination will only bring about even more harm being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Do you want assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. No matter the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of danger caused by operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible results of driving on the wrong fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so on. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you observe any of them then stop and get it drained immediately.
