BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution will depend on several factors. If you want to find out what you should do to fix it then please read on.
These are the key variables to take into account whenever choosing whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in to the BMW, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of the BMW M3 Cabrio is normally around 65 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, as little as 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol M3 Cabrio will in most situations not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 3.25 litres (which is close to 5% of the fuel tank volume) is often able to be adequately diluted simply by wholly topping up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It is extremely unusual to encounter a vehicle experiencing difficulties due to less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it's unusual - definitely not impossible to find. There are actually a few vehicles that will not stand any degree of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has shown that as many drivers get away with it as those people who break down. Whenever you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and just simply fill it up bear in mind that it is the same thing as wagering your car on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol M3 Cabrio should really as soon as possible be drained since your probability of getting away with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly below one in 50 - truly huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you detected any performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in your M3 Cabrio? If so, get it drained no matter the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually driving a car that is already starting to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination will typically cause even more harm being caused to your fuel system components.
  3. Do you want security?
You should get it emptied. No matter the contamination ratio, there is inevitably a certain level of threat in connection with operating a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Probable outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, loss of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop driving and have it drained right away.
