BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regular error. And its remedy is dependent upon a few factors. If you would like to find out what to do to fix it then please read on.
Listed below are the key variables to keep in mind whenever determining whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in to the BMW, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of your BMW M5 is in most cases about 70 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, as little as 3.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol M5 will more often than not not be a significant problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 3.5 litres (approximately 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is generally capable of being completely diluted simply by thoroughly filling the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's highly rare to encounter a car or truck having problems with less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is infrequently found - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are actually some vehicles that won't stand any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 3.5 and 7 litres of Diesel in the BMW (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with it as those who break down. Whenever you are figuring out whether to risk it and just top it up consider that it is the same as betting all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 7 litres of Diesel in a Petrol M5 should really straightaway be removed since your likelihood of getting away with that amount of contamination is more than likely lower than one in 50 - extremely long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you noted any performance problems ever since putting the bad fuel in your M5? If that's the case, get it emptied no matter the amount of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive running a motor vehicle that is now starting to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination can typically cause even more harm being caused to your fuel system components.
  3. Do you want security?
Simply get it removed. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some degree of threat caused by driving a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible implications of driving on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so on. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and in the event that you observe any of them then stop and have it removed as soon as possible.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
