BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a regular mistake. And what you need to do about it is dependent upon an assortment of factors. In case you want to know what it is advisable to do about this then keep reading.
Here are the key factors to to consider whenever making a decision whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel have you put into the BMW, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your BMW x1 is normally about 63 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 3.15 litres of Diesel in a Petrol x1 will in most cases not be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that quantities less than 3.15 litres (almost 5% of the fuel tank volume) is quite often able to be completely diluted by entirely filling the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's relatively uncommon to come across an automobile going through problems because of under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to find. There are some automobiles that will not stand any amount of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 3.15 and 6.3 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has confirmed that as many motorists get away with this as all those who break down. Whenever you are figuring out whether or not to chance it and just fill it up remember that it is much like betting it all on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything over 6.3 litres of Diesel in your Petrol x1 ought to as soon as possible be drained seeing that your likelihood of driving with that level of contamination is almost certainly less than one in fifty - really huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in your x1? In that case, get it removed no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually running an automobile that is beginning to suffer the effect of fuel contamination can definitely cause increasing amounts of damage being done to the fuel system.
  3. Do you need assurance?
You should get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always some extent of threat associated with operating a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, etc. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and should you notice any of them then stop and have it removed right away.
