BMW Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol BMW is a very common mistake. And exactly what you want to do about it varies according to several different factors. If you want to find out what it is best to do to sort it out then read on.
These are the most important factors to to consider whenever figuring out whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put in to the BMW, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the BMW x6 ActiveHybrid is probably around 85 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, something like 4.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol x6 ActiveHybrid will in most situations not really be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that quantities under 4.25 litres (approximately 5% of the fuel tank volume) is quite often able to be adequately diluted simply by wholly filling up the tank with Petrol.
It's pretty unusual to find a car or truck having problems because of under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is uncommon - not impossible to encounter. You can get some cars that will not endure any level of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 4.25 and 8.5 litres of Diesel in the BMW (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has proven that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you're figuring out whether to risk it and just simply top it up recognise that it is exactly like betting it all on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything above 8.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol x6 ActiveHybrid should right away be drained out seeing as your probability of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is more than likely below one in fifty - seriously huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol BMW and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance issues after putting the incorrect fuel in the x6 ActiveHybrid? If you have, get it removed regardless of the quantity of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive driving a vehicle that is already starting to suffer the effects of fuel contamination can likely end up in even more damage being caused to your fuel system.
  3. Do you need security?
In that case get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is invariably some amount of risk resulting from driving a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable final outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running unevenly, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so on. These are some of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you notice any of them then stop driving and get it removed right away.
