Chevrolet Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet is a regular mistake to make. And its remedy depends on a few factors. In case you want to know what it is advisable to do about this then keep reading.
Let us discuss the key variables to think about when deciding whether to get the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in the Chevrolet, considering that the fuel tank capacity of your Chevrolet HHR is usually approximately 61 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 3.05 litres of Diesel in a Petrol HHR will usually not necessarily be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that quantities less than 3.05 litres (almost 5% of the fuel tank volume) is sometimes able to be adequately diluted by entirely filling the tank with Petrol.
It's pretty unusual to find a car or truck having problems with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it's uncommon - not impossible to find. You can get some automobiles that don't endure any amount of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 3.05 and 6.1 litres of Diesel in the Chevrolet (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has shown that as many drivers get away with this as all those who don't. When you are deciding whether to risk it and just simply fill it up recognise that it is the same as gambling it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything over 6.1 litres of Diesel in your Petrol HHR must straight away be drained seeing that your probability of getting away with this quantity of contamination is very likely below one in 50 - really big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet and drove it: Have you seen any performance difficulties as a result of putting the wrong fuel in your HHR? If you have, get it drained regardless of the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continuing to run driving a motor vehicle that is beginning to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can definitely result in more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is always a certain level of risk connected to operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible outcomes of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and in the event that you recognise any of them then stop driving and have it drained immediately.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
