Chevrolet Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet is a well-known mistake. And what you want to do about it is determined by various factors. If perhaps you would like to find out what you need to do to fix it then continue reading.
Listed here the key factors to to consider whenever figuring out whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel have you put into the Chevrolet, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Chevrolet Spark is usually about 35 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, something like 1.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Spark will quite often not really be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that quantities less than 1.75 litres (which is roughly 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is in many instances capable of being completely diluted by wholly filling up the tank with the correct fuel.
It's relatively unusual to find an automobile suffering from problems because of under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain motor vehicles that won't stand any level of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 1.75 and 3.5 litres of Diesel in the Chevrolet (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has shown that as many motorists get away with it as all those who break down. When you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is very much like gambling all of it on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything above 3.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Spark should straight away be drained out since your probability of driving with this level of contamination is in all likelihood lower than one in 50 - truly huge odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet and drove it: Have you noted any performance issues as a result of putting the bad fuel in the Spark? If so, get it drained no matter the amount of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually driving an automobile that is now beginning to suffer the effects of fuel contamination can likely bring about increasing amounts of harm affecting the fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for security?
In that case get it drained. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always some amount of danger linked with running a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Possible consequences of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel include things like the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them cease driving and get it drained right away.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
