Chevrolet Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet is a very common mistake to make. And its solution depends on several different things. In case you want to find out what you must do about it then stay with me.
Listed here are the most important factors to be aware of whenever figuring out whether or not to have the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the Chevrolet, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of your Chevrolet Suburban is most likely roughly 150 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 7.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Suburban will more often than not not be a massive problem. Experience has taught us that quantities under 7.5 litres (close to 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is quite often capable of being adequately diluted simply by entirely filling up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's rather uncommon to encounter a car experiencing difficulties because of below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Please remember it is infrequent - not impossible to encounter. There are actually a number of motor vehicles that will not stand any quantity of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 7.5 and 15 litres of Diesel in the Chevrolet (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has proven that as many drivers get away with this as those who don't. When you are deciding on whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up bear in mind that it is exactly like gambling everything on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything more than 15 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Suburban should as soon as possible be removed seeing as your likelihood of driving with this amount of contamination is in all likelihood below one in fifty - truly big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Chevrolet and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance problems ever since putting the bad fuel in the Suburban? If that's the case, get it emptied no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a motor vehicle that is currently starting to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will only end up in increasing amounts of harm affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for peace of mind?
You should get it drained. No matter the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some degree of threat connected to driving a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable consequences of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so on. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and in the event that you notice any of them stop driving and have it removed immediately.

Avoid having any jack-of-all-trades to attend your car. We are Chevrolet specialists and possess the qualifications and working experience needed to ensure that you get back on the road with a minimum of hassle or worry.

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
