Daihatsu Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Daihatsu is a well-known error. And its solution is based on various things. If perhaps you would like to find out what you need to do to fix it then read on.
Let us discuss the main factors to keep in mind whenever deciding whether or not to have it drained:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put in to the Daihatsu, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of your Daihatsu Applause is usually about 50 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, something like 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Applause will in most situations not really be a big problem. Experience has proven to us that anything under 2.5 litres (almost 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is quite often able to be completely diluted by means of entirely topping the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is extremely rare to encounter a car going through difficulties with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is very unusual - definitely not impossible to find. You can get a few cars that won't endure any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Daihatsu (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our experience has demonstrated that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When you are deciding upon whether or not to risk it and basically fill it up consider that it is very much like betting everything on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Applause really should right away be drained seeing as your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is very likely less than one in fifty - genuinely huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Daihatsu and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in your Applause? If that's the case, get it removed irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Still running a car that is starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination can typically lead to even more damage being done to the fuel system.
  3. Do you want security?
You should get it emptied. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is inevitably some amount of threat affiliated with operating a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Possible outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel include the motor not starting, running unevenly, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so on. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you recognise any of them stop and get it drained asap.

Don't simply have any unqualified mechanic to try to fix your car. We are Daihatsu experts and have got the skills and practical experience required to ensure you get back on the road with minimal hassle or worry.
