Daihatsu Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Daihatsu is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution is determined by a number of things. If you would like to find out what it is advisable to do about this then please read on.
Listed below are the main variables to be aware of when deciding on whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put into the Daihatsu, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Daihatsu Gran Move Cx is in most cases around 50 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, less than 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Gran Move Cx will most of the time not be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 2.5 litres (almost 5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is in many instances capable of being adequately diluted by thoroughly filling the tank with the right fuel.
It's highly uncommon to encounter a vehicle suffering from difficulties due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very uncommon - not impossible to encounter. You will discover some motor vehicles that will not endure any degree of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Daihatsu (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience demonstrates that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and simply fill it up remember that it is exactly like gambling all of it on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Gran Move Cx really should straightaway be removed seeing that your probability of getting away with that amount of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Daihatsu and drove it: Have you observed any performance troubles since putting the incorrect fuel in your Gran Move Cx? In that case, have it emptied no matter the amount of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Still driving a car that is starting to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will probably just end up in even more damage affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you need reassurance?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is inevitably a certain level of danger associated with running a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable implications of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the motor not starting, running lumpy, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, etc. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you notice any of them then stop and get it drained immediately.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
