Ford Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Ford is a fairly typical mistake. And exactly what you need to do about it is dependent upon various factors. If perhaps you would like to know what you have to do to sort it out then stay with me.
These are the most important variables to think about when determining whether to get the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put in to the Ford, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of your Ford Escort is in most cases about 55 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Escort will generally not really be a big problem. Experience has shown us that quantities less than 2.75 litres (which is close to 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being completely diluted by completely topping up the remainder of the tank with the correct fuel.
It's rather rare to encounter a vehicle going through difficulties with under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it is very infrequently found - in no way impossible to find. You will discover some vehicles that don't stand any amount of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Ford (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with this as those who don't. When you are figuring out whether or not to chance it and just top it up recognise that it is the same thing as wagering it all on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 5.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Escort must promptly be drained out since your probability of driving with that amount of contamination is very likely lower than one in 50 - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Ford and drove it: Have you spotted any kind of performance troubles as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in the Escort? If so, have it removed irrespective of the amount of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually driving an automobile that is beginning to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination can only end up in even more damage being done to the fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for reassurance?
Then get it removed. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is always some extent of threat affiliated with running a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Possible final outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, etc. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and should you detect any of them stop and have it drained right away.

Don't simply get any general so-and-so to try to repair your car. We are Ford experts and hold the credentials and experience required to make certain you are back on the road with a minimum of hassle or worry.
