Ford Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Ford is a common problem. And exactly what you have to do about it depends upon a number of things. In the event that you would like to know what you need to do about this then continue reading.
Listed here are the most crucial variables to keep in mind when figuring out whether or not to get your car drained:

  1. How much Diesel have you put into the Ford, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Ford Focus is in most cases roughly 55 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Diesel, as little as 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Focus will in most cases not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that an amount less than 2.75 litres (almost 5% of the fuel tank) is frequently capable of being completely diluted simply by totally topping up the remainder of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is relatively unusual to find a vehicle experiencing problems due to less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is infrequent - not impossible to find. You can get a number of automobiles that don't stand any level of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Ford (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has demonstrated that as many people get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and basically fill it up bear in mind that it is very much like wagering everything on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything above 5.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Focus really should straight away be drained out as your likelihood of getting away with this level of contamination is probably less than one in 50 - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Ford and drove it: Have you detected any performance troubles after putting the bad fuel in your Focus? In that case, have it emptied irrespective of the amount of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run driving an automobile that is beginning to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination will probably just be responsible for more damage being done to your fuel system.
  3. Would you like assurance?
Then simply just get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is always some extent of threat affiliated with operating a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Possible outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel include things like the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, losing power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and so on. These are some of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them stop and have it drained right away.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
