Ford Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Ford is a fairly typical problem. And exactly what you have to do about it hinges on a number of factors. In case you would like to know what you have to do about it then continue reading.
Here are the most important factors to be aware of when deciding whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in the Ford, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Ford Windstar is in most cases approximately 95 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 4.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Windstar will generally not necessarily be a massive problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that an amount under 4.75 litres (almost 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is in many instances able to be sufficiently diluted by means of totally filling the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It's rather unusual to come across a car going through difficulties due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very rare - not impossible to find. You can get a few cars that will not stand any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 4.75 and 9.5 litres of Diesel in the Ford (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has demonstrated that as many drivers get away with this as those people who break down. Any time you are trying to decide whether or not to chance it and just simply top it up bear in mind that it is very much like betting your car on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything more than 9.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Windstar should promptly be drained out seeing as your likelihood of getting away with that amount of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in fifty - extremely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Ford and drove it: Have you seen any performance issues since putting the incorrect fuel in the Windstar? If so, get it removed regardless of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Still driving a motor vehicle that is now starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination can definitely result in even more damage affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in security?
You should get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably some amount of threat resulting from driving a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Likely results of driving on the wrong fuel include the motor not starting, running unevenly, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them cease driving and get it removed right away.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
