Honda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Honda is a common mistake to make. And exactly what you should do about it hinges on a few things. Assuming you would like to find out what you must do about it then keep reading.
Here are the main variables to to consider whenever choosing whether or not to have the car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put into the Honda, taking into consideration that the fuel tank capacity of your Honda Prelude is usually roughly 60 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, less than 3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Prelude will normally not really be a huge problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that an amount under 3 litres (5% of the total fuel tank volume) is in many instances capable of being completely diluted by means of thoroughly filling up the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It is highly uncommon to find a vehicle having difficulties because of below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's infrequent - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover a few motor vehicles that won't stand any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 3 and 6 litres of Diesel in the Honda (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has shown us that as many drivers get away with it as those who don't. Whenever you are trying to decide whether or not to chance it and basically top it up recognise that it is the same thing as betting everything on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 6 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Prelude should promptly be drained seeing as your likelihood of driving with that quantity of contamination is more than likely less than one in 50 - definitely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Honda and drove it: Have you detected any performance troubles as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your Prelude? In that case, have it removed no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Still driving a motor vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination can definitely cause progressively more damage being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Would you like peace of mind?
You should get it removed. No matter the contamination ratio, there is always some degree of danger associated with running a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable final outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and the like. These are some of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and if you recognise any of them then stop and have it removed right now.
