Jeep Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Jeep is a very common mistake to make. And exactly what you need to do about it is based on a variety of things. If you would like to find out what it is advisable to do to fix it then keep reading.
Listed below are the most important factors to keep in mind when making a decision whether or not to get it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put in to the Jeep, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your Jeep Compass is probably around 51 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Diesel, less than 2.55 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Compass will more often than not not really be a big problem. Experience has shown us that quantities under 2.55 litres (which is close to 5% of the fuel tank volume) is usually capable of being sufficiently diluted through completely topping up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It is pretty uncommon to find a car having problems due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it's unusual - not impossible to encounter. There are actually a few cars that will not endure any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 2.55 and 5.1 litres of Diesel in the Jeep (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has confirmed that as many motorists get away with it as those people who don't. Whenever deciding upon whether or not to risk it and basically fill it up remember that it is the same thing as betting everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything more than 5.1 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Compass should right away be drained out seeing as your probability of succeeding with that amount of contamination is probably less than one in fifty - extremely huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Jeep and drove it: Have you observed any performance problems ever since putting the wrong fuel in your Compass? If you have, have it emptied irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive driving an automobile that is starting to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination can likely lead to increasing amounts of damage affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Would you like security?
You should get it drained. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is always some extent of danger caused by running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible consequences of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and the like. These are a few of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them then stop driving and get it drained right away.
