Kia Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Kia is a well-known mistake. And its solution is based on an assortment of things. If you want to know what you have to do to sort it out then keep on reading.
These are the main variables to take into account when determining whether to have your car drained:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put into the Kia, considering that the fuel tank capacity of the Kia Rio is in most cases around 45 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Diesel, less than 2.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Rio will quite often not be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount less than 2.25 litres (almost 5% of the total fuel tank) is often capable of being sufficiently diluted through entirely filling up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's relatively unusual to find a car suffering from issues because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Remember that it is rare - definitely not impossible to find. You will discover certain automobiles that won't endure any level of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 2.25 and 4.5 litres of Diesel in the Kia (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has revealed that as many drivers get away with it as all those who break down. Whenever you are trying to decide whether to chance it and just top it up remember that it is the same thing as gambling everything on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything more than 4.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Rio should really straightaway be removed seeing as your probability of driving with this level of contamination is more than likely less than one in 50 - extremely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Kia and drove it: Have you spotted any kind of performance troubles since putting the wrong fuel in your Rio? If you have, get it drained irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Still running a motor vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will probably likely lead to more harm being done to your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in reassurance?
You should get it removed. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably some degree of threat linked with operating a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible outcomes of driving a car on the wrong fuel include things like the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and the like. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them stop and get it removed right away.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
