Mazda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Mazda is a well-known error. And its remedy is based on a number of things. Assuming you would like to know what you should do about it then stay with me.
Listed here the key factors to consider whenever figuring out whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in to the Mazda, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your Mazda 3 MZR is probably about 55 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, something like 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 3 MZR will most of the time not really be a significant problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 2.75 litres (which is almost 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is usually capable of being completely diluted by means of thoroughly filling up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It is pretty rare to come across a motor vehicle experiencing problems due to below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very unusual - in no way impossible to encounter. There are actually some automobiles that won't endure any degree of contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Mazda (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our practical experience has demonstrated that as many people get away with this as those who don't. Whenever you are deciding whether to risk it and basically top it up consider that it is just like wagering all of it on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything over 5.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 3 MZR really should as soon as possible be drained because your probability of succeeding with this amount of contamination is undoubtedly below one in fifty - seriously big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mazda and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance problems after putting the bad fuel in your 3 MZR? In that case, have it emptied irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run driving a vehicle that is now beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination can definitely result in more damage being done to your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you interested in security?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably a certain level of threat associated with running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable consequences of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running lumpy, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, etc. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop and get it drained immediately.

Don't simply get any jack-of-all-trades to attend your car. We are Mazda experts and hold the qualifications and practical experience necessary to make certain you are back on the road with no hassle or worry.

Diesel in Petrol Questions

When someone has put Diesel in a Petrol car they have a few very common questions. So we have compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions for you

I put Diesel in a Petrol car and drove it. What do I do?

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Diesel can I get away with in a Petrol car?

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
