Mazda Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Mazda is a fairly typical mistake to make. And its solution will depend on a variety of factors. If perhaps you want to know what it is advisable to do to fix it then continue reading.
These are the main factors to take into account when deciding whether or not to have it drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put in to the Mazda, considering that the fuel capacity of your Mazda Mx-3 is normally approximately 50 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, less than 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Mx-3 will in most situations not be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 2.5 litres (5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is usually able to be completely diluted simply by entirely filling up the tank with the correct fuel.
It is rather rare to come across a car going through difficulties because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it is very uncommon - in no way impossible to encounter. There are actually a few cars that won't endure any quantity of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Mazda (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has revealed that as many motorists get away with it as all those who break down. Any time you are deciding upon whether to risk it and simply fill it up consider that it is very much like wagering all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Mx-3 must promptly be drained out as your likelihood of driving with that quantity of contamination is more than likely below one in fifty - seriously long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mazda and drove it: Have you detected any performance problems as a result of putting the wrong fuel in your Mx-3? If that's the case, get it removed irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive driving a motor vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will only be responsible for increasing amounts of harm affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in reassurance?
Then get it drained. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is always some amount of risk associated with driving a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable results of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, etc. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you notice any of them cease driving and get it removed asap.
