Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a usual mistake to make. And its remedy depends on several factors. If you would like to know what it is advisable to do to sort it out then read on.
Here are the main variables to be aware of when choosing whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put in to the Mercedes, considering that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes A170 is usually approximately 54 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, less than 2.7 litres of Diesel in a Petrol A170 will in most cases not be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 2.7 litres (roughly 5% of the overall fuel tank) is generally able to be completely diluted through wholly topping the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is highly uncommon to come across a motor vehicle experiencing difficulties with lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Please remember it is very infrequently found - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are certain automobiles that will not stand any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Between 2.7 and 5.4 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our practical experience has proven that as many people get away with it as those people who break down. Whenever you are figuring out whether to risk it and just simply top it up remember that it is exactly like betting everything on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 5.4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol A170 really should straight away be drained out since your probability of succeeding with this amount of contamination is very likely less than one in fifty - extremely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance difficulties ever since putting the wrong fuel in the A170? In that case, get it drained regardless of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run driving a car that is now beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will definitely be responsible for more damage being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in security?
You should get it drained. No matter the contamination ratio, there is always some degree of threat connected to operating a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Likely consequences of driving on the incorrect fuel normally include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and should you detect any of them then stop and have it removed immediately.
