Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a very common error. And its solution will depend on a number of things. If you want to know what you must do to sort it out then stay with me.
Listed here are the main factors to keep in mind whenever choosing whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put in to the Mercedes, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes B160 is most likely around 54 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 2.7 litres of Diesel in a Petrol B160 will generally not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 2.7 litres (which is about 5% of the total fuel tank capacity) is quite often capable of being completely diluted through entirely topping up the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It's quite uncommon to come across an automobile going through difficulties due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it's uncommon - in no way impossible to find. You can get a few automobiles that will not stand any amount of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 2.7 and 5.4 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our experience demonstrates that as many people get away with it as those people who break down. When you are trying to decide whether or not to risk it and simply fill it up remember that it is exactly like gambling your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 5.4 litres of Diesel in your Petrol B160 should really right away be removed since your likelihood of getting away with that amount of contamination is very likely lower than one in 50 - definitely long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance troubles ever since putting the wrong fuel in your B160? If that's the case, have it emptied irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continually driving a motor vehicle that is now starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination will just bring about even more damage being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Do you need reassurance?
In that case get it removed. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is always some degree of threat associated with operating a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so on. These are a few of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop and get it drained as soon as possible.

Don't simply have any jack-of-all-trades to try to fix your vehicle. We are Mercedes experts and have the skills and knowledge needed to make certain that you get back on the road with minimal hassle or worry.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
