Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution depends upon a variety of factors. Assuming you want to find out what to do about this then keep on reading.
Listed here the key variables to think about when deciding whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put in to the Mercedes, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes B170 is most likely around 54 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, less than 2.7 litres of Diesel in a Petrol B170 will normally not really be a massive problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 2.7 litres (close to 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is frequently able to be sufficiently diluted by completely filling up the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is very rare to come across an automobile suffering from problems because of under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it is infrequent - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are certain cars that won't endure any quantity of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 2.7 and 5.4 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has revealed that as many motorists get away with this as all those who don't. When deciding on whether to risk it and just simply fill it up recognise that it is the same as gambling all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 5.4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol B170 should promptly be removed seeing that your likelihood of succeeding with this level of contamination is certainly lower than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance issues ever since putting the bad fuel in the B170? In that case, have it removed irrespective of the volume of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continuing to run running a car that is currently beginning to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination will probably only be responsible for even more damage affecting the fuel system components.
  3. Do you need peace of mind?
Then simply just get it removed. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some amount of threat resulting from running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely results of driving on the wrong fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, etc. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you observe any of them then stop and have it drained right now.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
