Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And what you need to do about it varies according to an assortment of factors. Assuming you would like to find out what you must do to sort it out then continue reading.
These are the key factors to be aware of when deciding on whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. Exactly how much Diesel did you put in to the Mercedes, considering that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes C250 is usually around 66 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 3.3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C250 will usually not really be a huge problem. Experience has shown us that an amount less than 3.3 litres (which is close to 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is often capable of being completely diluted by wholly filling the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's quite rare to come across a car or truck having problems because of less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is infrequent - definitely not impossible to find. There are actually a few cars that don't endure any level of contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 3.3 and 6.6 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our experience has confirmed that as many drivers get away with it as all those who break down. Whenever you are trying to decide whether to chance it and just simply fill it up consider that it is much like wagering all of it on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.6 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C250 ought to right away be drained out as your likelihood of getting away with this quantity of contamination is more than likely lower than one in fifty - genuinely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance difficulties since putting the incorrect fuel in your C250? If so, get it drained irrespective of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually running a motor vehicle that is starting to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination will likely result in more and more damage affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
You should get it emptied. Regardless of contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of danger caused by driving a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Probable outcomes of driving a vehicle on the wrong fuel normally include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so on. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then cease driving and have it drained as soon as possible.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
