Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a fairly typical error. And its remedy depends upon a few things. If you want to know what it is advisable to do about it then keep reading.
These are the most important variables to be aware of when choosing whether or not to have your car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in the Mercedes, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Mercedes C280 is in most cases approximately 62 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 3.1 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C280 will more often than not not really be a significant problem. Experience has shown us that anything less than 3.1 litres (which is almost 5% of the entire fuel tank) is frequently capable of being completely diluted by means of completely topping the tank with the right fuel.
It's very unusual to encounter a car going through difficulties due to less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it's rare - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are certain vehicles that don't endure any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Between 3.1 and 6.2 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many drivers get away with it as those people who don't. When you are deciding whether to chance it and just simply fill it up recognise that it is exactly like betting all of it on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 6.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C280 should really immediately be drained out seeing that your likelihood of getting away with this level of contamination is very likely below one in 50 - seriously long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance troubles since putting the wrong fuel in the C280? If you have, get it drained no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continually driving a vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer the consequences of fuel contamination will probably definitely lead to more and more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Are you interested in peace of mind?
Simply get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is invariably a certain level of danger linked with driving a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible results of driving on the wrong fuel include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, and so on. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you observe any of them stop and get it drained right away.
