Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a regular problem. And what you need to do about it will depend on several things. Assuming you want to find out what it is advisable to do about this then stay with me.
These are the most important variables to to consider whenever deciding whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the Mercedes, considering that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes C350 is in most cases approximately 62 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 3.1 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C350 will most of the time not really be a big problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount less than 3.1 litres (which is close to 5% of the overall fuel tank capacity) is in many instances capable of being sufficiently diluted by means of completely filling up the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is rather rare to encounter a car having difficulties due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it's infrequently found - certainly not impossible to find. You will discover a number of vehicles that will not stand any level of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 3.1 and 6.2 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our practical experience has revealed that as many people get away with it as all those who don't. Any time you're figuring out whether to chance it and just simply top it up bear in mind that it is much like betting everything on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working out.
    3. Anything above 6.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol C350 should really right away be drained out because your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly below one in fifty - truly long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any performance concerns as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your C350? If so, get it emptied regardless of the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Still driving a vehicle that is now starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will probably typically lead to more and more harm affecting the fuel system.
  3. Would you like reassurance?
In that case get it drained. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is always some amount of risk connected to driving a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable outcomes of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, decrease in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop driving and have it removed as soon as possible.
