Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a common mistake. And what you need to do about it is determined by several factors. If you want to know what you should do about it then keep reading.
Listed here the key variables to consider when deciding whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Mercedes E240 is probably around 65 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, less than 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol E240 will usually not really be a significant problem. Experience has taught us that quantities less than 3.25 litres (about 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is quite often capable of being completely diluted by means of thoroughly filling up the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It's very unusual to come across an automobile suffering from problems due to below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Please remember it is unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. You will discover a number of vehicles that don't endure any amount of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has shown that as many people get away with it as those people who don't. When deciding whether or not to chance it and simply top it up remember that it is exactly like wagering everything on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything more than 6.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol E240 should straightaway be removed as your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is more than likely lower than one in 50 - really huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you observed any kind of performance concerns after putting the bad fuel in the E240? If you have, get it drained no matter the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive running a motor vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination can just cause progressively more damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Then simply just get it removed. No matter the contamination percentage, there is invariably a certain level of danger linked with driving a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Likely implications of driving a car on the wrong fuel normally include the motor not starting, running unevenly, reduced power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them stop and get it removed immediately.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
