Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a regular problem. And exactly what you need to do about it depends upon a number of factors. In the event that you want to know what you must do about it then stay with me.
Listed below are the main variables to to consider when deciding whether or not to get your car drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put in to the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes E350 is in most cases about 80 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, as little as 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol E350 will generally not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities less than 4 litres (about 5% of the whole fuel tank) is quite often capable of being completely diluted through completely topping the remainder of the tank with the right fuel.
It's pretty uncommon to encounter an automobile having problems because of less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it's infrequently found - definitely not impossible to find. You can get a number of cars that will not stand any level of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Anywhere between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our experience has shown us that as many people get away with it as all those who break down. Any time you're deciding whether or not to chance it and just fill it up bear in mind that it is very much like wagering everything on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything over 8 litres of Diesel in your Petrol E350 really should as soon as possible be removed seeing as your likelihood of succeeding with this amount of contamination is probably less than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you noted any performance issues ever since putting the wrong fuel in your E350? If you have, have it removed irrespective of the volume of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to run driving an automobile that is starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination can just bring about even more damage being caused to the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want security?
You should get it removed. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of danger linked with running a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely results of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running unevenly, losing power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them stop driving and have it drained asap.

Stay away from getting any untrained so-and-so to attend your vehicle. We are Mercedes specialists and hold the credentials and practical experience needed to make certain you get back on the road with little hassle or worry.

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Diesel can I get away with in a Petrol car?

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
