Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a very common mistake to make. And what you want to do about it depends upon a number of factors. In case you want to know what you should do to sort it out then read on.
Let us discuss the most important variables to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to get your car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel tank capacity of your Mercedes E500 is most likely approximately 80 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, something like 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol E500 will most of the time not really be a massive problem. Experience has proven to us that anything less than 4 litres (which is 5% of the entire fuel tank) is often able to be completely diluted simply by entirely topping the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It is rather unusual to come across a car having difficulties with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is rare - in no way impossible to encounter. You will discover certain cars that will not endure any level of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has shown us that as many people get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever you are deciding upon whether or not to chance it and basically top it up consider that it is just like wagering all of it on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 8 litres of Diesel in a Petrol E500 ought to straight away be removed seeing as your probability of driving with that amount of contamination is probably below one in fifty - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you noticed any performance concerns as a result of putting the bad fuel in your E500? In that case, have it removed regardless of the amount of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive driving a car that is beginning to suffer from the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can typically be responsible for more and more damage affecting the fuel system components.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. No matter the contamination percentage, there is always some extent of risk connected with driving a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely results of driving on the wrong fuel include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most common Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them then stop driving and get it drained right now.
