Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a well-known mistake. And what you want to do about it is based on a few things. If perhaps you want to know what to do about it then keep on reading.
Let us discuss the key variables to think about when deciding whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in the Mercedes, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Mercedes ML 320 is in most cases roughly 72 litres?
    1. A tiny amount of Diesel, as little as 3.6 litres of Diesel in a Petrol ML 320 will usually not be a significant problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities under 3.6 litres (which is close to 5% of the overall fuel tank) is frequently capable of being sufficiently diluted through completely filling up the tank with the right fuel.
It is relatively rare to find a car suffering from issues because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very infrequently found - not impossible to encounter. There are a number of cars that will not endure any quantity of contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 3.6 and 7.2 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our expertise has proven that as many drivers get away with this as all those who don't. When deciding whether to risk it and simply fill it up bear in mind that it is much like wagering everything on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 7.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol ML 320 should really immediately be drained seeing as your probability of succeeding with that amount of contamination is in all likelihood below one in fifty - genuinely huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you observed any performance problems ever since putting the incorrect fuel in the ML 320? If that's the case, get it drained irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continually driving a vehicle that is now beginning to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will only result in even more harm affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you want assurance?
You should get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of danger connected to operating a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely final outcomes of driving on the wrong fuel include things like the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and the like. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you detect any of them then cease driving and have it removed right away.

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
