Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a well-known mistake. And what you should do about it will depend on several things. If perhaps you would like to find out what you ought to do about this then keep reading.
Here are the key variables to take into consideration whenever deciding whether to have the car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel did you put in to the Mercedes, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of your Mercedes R280 is usually approximately 80 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, less than 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol R280 will usually not be a big problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 4 litres (about 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is usually capable of being completely diluted simply by wholly filling the rest of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It is quite uncommon to encounter an automobile experiencing difficulties with below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is uncommon - not impossible to find. There are certain cars that don't stand any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has revealed that as many drivers get away with it as those people who break down. When you are deciding upon whether to risk it and just simply fill it up recognise that it is exactly like betting all of it on black - you will have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything above 8 litres of Diesel in a Petrol R280 ought to straight away be drained out since your probability of getting away with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in 50 - extremely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you observed any performance issues ever since putting the wrong fuel in the R280? If so, have it removed irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Still driving a motor vehicle that is already beginning to suffer from the effects of fuel contamination will probably only be responsible for even more damage being done to the fuel system.
  3. Are you interested in reassurance?
Simply get it drained. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is inevitably some extent of threat in connection with running a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Likely consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the engine not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, etc. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you notice any of them stop driving and have it drained immediately.

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
