Mercedes Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes is a regularly occurring problem. And its solution is dependent upon several things. If you would like to find out what you ought to do to sort it out then please read on.
Let us discuss the key variables to keep in mind whenever deciding on whether or not to have it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put in the Mercedes, considering that the fuel capacity of the Mercedes SL 320 is usually about 80 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, less than 4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol SL 320 will generally not really be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything less than 4 litres (which is close to 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is sometimes capable of being adequately diluted through entirely topping up the rest of the tank with Petrol.
It is relatively unusual to come across a vehicle having issues with less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is very unusual - in no way impossible to encounter. There are some cars that will not endure any level of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. In between 4 and 8 litres of Diesel in the Mercedes (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise has confirmed that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. Whenever deciding upon whether to risk it and basically top it up bear in mind that it is the same thing as gambling your car on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything in excess of 8 litres of Diesel in your Petrol SL 320 should really as soon as possible be drained since your likelihood of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly below one in 50 - truly huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Mercedes and drove it: Have you detected any kind of performance problems as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in the SL 320? In that case, get it drained no matter the volume of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continuing to run driving a car that is currently beginning to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination will only lead to more damage being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Do you need reassurance?
Then get it drained. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of danger caused by driving a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible results of driving a car on the wrong fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so on. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then stop and get it removed as soon as possible.
