Mini Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mini is a well-known error. And its solution is determined by a few things. If perhaps you want to know what you need to do about this then stay with me.
These are the key variables to consider when figuring out whether to have the car drained:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put into the Mini, bearing in mind that the fuel tank capacity of the Mini Cooper Works is in most cases roughly 50 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, less than 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Cooper Works will quite often not necessarily be a major problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything under 2.5 litres (approximately 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being sufficiently diluted simply by entirely filling up the tank with Petrol.
It's relatively uncommon to encounter an automobile going through issues with under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very unusual - not impossible to find. You will discover certain vehicles that don't endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Mini (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our practical experience has shown us that as many drivers get away with it as those who break down. When deciding on whether or not to risk it and just top it up consider that it is very much like betting everything on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything in excess of 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Cooper Works should really immediately be drained out as your probability of driving with that quantity of contamination is probably below one in 50 - really big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mini and drove it: Have you noticed any performance concerns ever since putting the wrong fuel in your Cooper Works? If so, get it emptied regardless of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to run running a motor vehicle that is starting to suffer from the effect of fuel contamination can just cause even more damage affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want reassurance?
In that case get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is invariably some degree of threat in connection with driving a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Likely outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or blocked injectors, etc. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and in the event that you observe any of them then cease driving and have it removed asap.
