Mitsubishi Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Mitsubishi is a regularly occurring mistake. And exactly what you should do about it depends upon a few factors. In the event that you would like to find out what you have to do about this then please read on.
These are the most important variables to take into consideration when determining whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put into the Mitsubishi, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of your Mitsubishi Galant is probably approximately 64 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, as little as 3.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Galant will in most cases not necessarily be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that an amount less than 3.2 litres (close to 5% of the total fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being adequately diluted simply by wholly filling up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's highly uncommon to come across a motor vehicle going through problems due to less than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is very unusual - not impossible to encounter. There are actually a number of cars that don't stand any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.2 and 6.4 litres of Diesel in the Mitsubishi (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our expertise has shown that as many motorists get away with this as those people who don't. Any time you are deciding whether to chance it and basically fill it up recognise that it is the same as gambling your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 6.4 litres of Diesel in your Petrol Galant really should as soon as possible be drained out as your probability of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in 50 - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Mitsubishi and drove it: Have you noticed any performance issues ever since putting the bad fuel in the Galant? If that's the case, get it drained no matter the amount of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continuing to run driving a car that is now starting to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination can likely cause even more harm being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Are you interested in assurance?
In that case get it removed. No matter the contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of risk connected to operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Possible results of driving a car on the wrong fuel include things like the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you notice any of them then stop driving and have it drained asap.

Avoid getting any untrained so-and-so to attend your vehicle. We are Mitsubishi experts and have the skills and practical experience necessary to ensure that you get back on the road with little hassle or worry.

Diesel in Petrol Questions

When someone has put Diesel in a Petrol car they have a few very common questions. So we have compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions for you

I put Diesel in a Petrol car and drove it. What do I do?

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Diesel can I get away with in a Petrol car?

Answer

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
