Nissan Fuel Drain

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Nissan is a regularly occurring error. And its remedy is dependent upon a few things. If you would like to find out what you should do about this then keep on reading.
These are the main factors to to consider whenever making a decision whether to get a fuel drain:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put into the Nissan, considering that the fuel capacity of the Nissan NV 200 is usually around 55 litres?
    1. A small quantity of Diesel, something like 2.75 litres of Diesel in a Petrol NV 200 will most of the time not be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that anything under 2.75 litres (roughly 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is quite often capable of being sufficiently diluted by means of thoroughly topping the tank with Petrol.
It's pretty unusual to come across a vehicle going through difficulties because of below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it's unusual - not impossible to encounter. There are certain cars that will not stand any level of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Anywhere between 2.75 and 5.5 litres of Diesel in the Nissan (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our expertise has shown us that as many motorists get away with this as those people who break down. Whenever deciding upon whether or not to risk it and simply top it up bear in mind that it is very much like wagering everything on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 5.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol NV 200 should straightaway be drained seeing as your likelihood of getting away with that level of contamination is in all likelihood below one in 50 - genuinely big odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Nissan and drove it: Have you seen any performance troubles ever since putting the bad fuel in your NV 200? If you have, have it removed regardless of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Continuing to run running a vehicle that is currently starting to suffer from the consequences of fuel contamination can just lead to more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Simply get it removed. No matter the contamination percentage, there is always some amount of risk linked with running a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable outcomes of driving on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the most common Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and if you recognise any of them then stop and have it drained asap.

Do not simply get any unqualified so-and-so to try to repair your vehicle. We are Nissan experts and hold the qualifications and experience required to make certain that you are back on the road with minimal hassle or worry.

Diesel in Petrol FAQs

When someone has put Diesel in a Petrol car they have a few very common questions. So we have compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions for you

I put Diesel in a Petrol car and drove it. What do I do?

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Diesel can I get away with in a Petrol car?

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
