Nissan Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Nissan is a very common problem. And exactly what you need to do about it depends on an assortment of factors. Assuming you want to know what you need to do to fix it then continue reading.
Let us discuss the main factors to keep in mind whenever choosing whether or not to have a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in to the Nissan, considering that the fuel capacity of the Nissan Qashqai+2 is normally around 65 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, something like 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Qashqai+2 will usually not be a major problem. Experience has taught us that anything less than 3.25 litres (approximately 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being completely diluted by means of thoroughly topping up the tank with the right fuel.
It's quite unusual to encounter a vehicle experiencing difficulties with below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Keep in mind that it is very uncommon - definitely not impossible to encounter. You will discover a number of cars that don't endure any degree of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. In between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the Nissan (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has revealed that as many drivers get away with this as those people who break down. Any time you're deciding upon whether or not to risk it and just simply fill it up remember that it is much like gambling your car on black - you have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 6.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Qashqai+2 should promptly be drained as your probability of getting away with this amount of contamination is undoubtedly less than one in fifty - extremely huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Nissan and drove it: Have you spotted any performance issues after putting the incorrect fuel in your Qashqai+2? If so, have it removed irrespective of the amount of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive driving a car that is already starting to suffer the consequences of wrong fuel contamination can just cause more and more harm affecting your fuel system components.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
In that case get it emptied. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is inevitably a certain level of risk resulting from driving a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Probable consequences of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the engine refusing to start, running unevenly, lack of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or blocked injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then stop and get it drained right away.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
