Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot is a usual mistake to make. And its remedy is determined by a number of factors. If perhaps you want to know what it is advisable to do to fix it then continue reading.
Let us discuss the most crucial factors to take into account whenever making a decision whether to have it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put into the Peugeot, taking into account that the fuel capacity of the Peugeot 106 is in most cases around 45 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 2.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 106 will normally not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has shown us that an amount under 2.25 litres (close to 5% of the entire fuel tank capacity) is usually capable of being adequately diluted by thoroughly filling up the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It's pretty uncommon to find a motor vehicle suffering from difficulties due to under 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Be aware that it is uncommon - certainly not impossible to encounter. You can get some cars that don't endure any amount of fuel contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 2.25 and 4.5 litres of Diesel in the Peugeot (from 5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with this as all those who break down. Whenever you are deciding on whether or not to chance it and just fill it up remember that it is just like betting your car on black - you've got a 50/50 possibility of it being ok.
    3. Anything above 4.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 106 really should straightaway be removed since your probability of getting away with this quantity of contamination is probably less than one in fifty - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot and drove it: Have you spotted any performance issues as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your 106? If you have, get it drained irrespective of the volume of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Still running a car that is currently beginning to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will typically be responsible for more damage affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Do you want reassurance?
Then simply just get it removed. Regardless of the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of danger connected with running a Petrol motor on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible implications of driving on the wrong fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running lumpy, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, damaged or clogged injectors, and the like. These are some of the most common Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and should you recognise any of them then cease driving and have it removed asap.

Stay away from getting any unqualified so-and-so to attend your car. We are Peugeot experts and have the accreditation and practical experience needed to make certain that you are back on the road with no hassle or worry.
