Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot is a common mistake. And its remedy depends upon several different things. In case you would like to find out what it is best to do about it then read on.
Listed here the key variables to to consider whenever figuring out whether or not to get it drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the Peugeot, keeping in mind that the fuel capacity of the Peugeot 2008 is normally around 50 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, something like 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 2008 will more often than not not really be a major problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 2.5 litres (which is about 5% of the total fuel tank volume) is in many instances capable of being sufficiently diluted by means of entirely topping the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It is highly unusual to come across a motor vehicle going through difficulties because of lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is rare - in no way impossible to find. There are a number of motor vehicles that won't endure any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Peugeot (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 scenario. Our experience has demonstrated that as many people get away with this as those people who break down. Whenever you are deciding whether or not to chance it and basically top it up recognise that it is very much like wagering your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 2008 must straight away be drained because your likelihood of succeeding with that quantity of contamination is in all likelihood less than one in 50 - seriously long odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot and drove it: Have you seen any kind of performance troubles after putting the incorrect fuel in your 2008? If that's the case, have it emptied regardless of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination ratio. Still driving a motor vehicle that is now beginning to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will only bring about even more harm being caused to the fuel system.
  3. Do you want assurance?
Then simply just get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some degree of danger associated with running a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Possible results of driving a car on the wrong fuel normally include the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, lack of power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so on. These are some of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and in the event that you recognise any of them then stop and get it removed immediately.

Diesel in Petrol Questions

When someone has put Diesel in a Petrol car they have a few very common questions. So we have compiled a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions for you

I put Diesel in a Petrol car and drove it. What do I do?

Answer

Turn off the car as soon as possible and call us. Continuing to run a vehicle on the wrong fuel can potentially damage it. We will be able to give you advice and assistance based on your circumstances

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

How much Diesel can I get away with in a Petrol car?

Answer

The safe answer is none. However you might be able to get away with a very low contamination ratio. That being said, we always highly recommend draining anything over a 5% contamination ratio asap.

I know about petrol in diesel, but what about Super Unleaded?

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
