Peugeot Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Putting Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot is a fairly typical mistake to make. And what you need to do about it is based on several things. If you want to know what you have to do to fix it then please read on.
Let us discuss the most important variables to keep in mind whenever choosing whether to have a fuel drain:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put in the Peugeot, taking into account that the fuel capacity of your Peugeot 307 135 is most likely around 60 litres?
    1. A modest quantity of Diesel, less than 3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 307 135 will typically not necessarily be a big problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that an amount less than 3 litres (which is 5% of the whole fuel tank volume) is oftentimes capable of being completely diluted simply by entirely filling the tank with the right fuel.
It is pretty unusual to encounter a motor vehicle suffering from issues due to less than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Be aware that it is very unusual - certainly not impossible to find. You will discover a few motor vehicles that won't endure any amount of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Anywhere between 3 and 6 litres of Diesel in the Peugeot (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 condition. Our experience has shown us that as many motorists get away with this as all those who don't. Whenever you are figuring out whether or not to chance it and basically top it up recognise that it is just like betting everything on black - you've got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything over 6 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 307 135 must straightaway be drained out as your probability of succeeding with this quantity of contamination is almost certainly lower than one in fifty - really long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Peugeot and drove it: Have you seen any performance problems after putting the bad fuel in your 307 135? If so, get it emptied no matter the volume of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Proceeding to drive running a vehicle that is currently beginning to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will probably typically be responsible for more and more harm affecting the fuel system parts.
  3. Are you looking for assurance?
Then get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is invariably some extent of danger resulting from driving a Petrol engine on fuel contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible final outcomes of driving a car on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, decrease in power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or bunged injectors, etc. These are several of the most typical Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and in the event that you detect any of them stop and get it removed right now.

Will driving a Petrol car on Diesel cause damage to it?

Answer

It can. However, if the problem is caught and remedied quickly the risks will be minimal. Of the 1,500 vehicles we attend every month, less than 0.5% have suffered and substantial damage requiring parts replacement.

Answer

Putting Super Unleaded, or Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate Unleaded, etc, will have the exact same effect as putting regular unleaded petrol in your diesel car and will need to be drained out and flushed.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
