Porsche Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Porsche is a very common error. And its remedy will depend on an assortment of things. Assuming you want to find out what it is advisable to do about this then please read on.
Listed below are the key factors to consider when deciding whether or not to get the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel did you put into the Porsche, considering that the fuel capacity of your Porsche Cayman is most likely roughly 64 litres?
    1. A small amount of Diesel, something like 3.2 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Cayman will generally not be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount less than 3.2 litres (approximately 5% of the total fuel tank) is oftentimes able to be adequately diluted by means of entirely topping the remainder of the tank with Petrol.
It is rather rare to encounter an automobile having issues because of lower than 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it is rare - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are some cars that don't endure any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 3.2 and 6.4 litres of Diesel in the Porsche (from 5 to 10%) is a 50/50 condition. Our working experience has shown us that as many drivers get away with it as those who break down. When you are deciding upon whether to risk it and simply top it up bear in mind that it is very much like gambling it all on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it working.
    3. Anything over 6.4 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Cayman really should immediately be drained as your probability of getting away with that quantity of contamination is certainly less than one in fifty - truly huge odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Porsche and drove it: Have you observed any performance issues as a result of putting the incorrect fuel in your Cayman? If you have, get it drained irrespective of the quantity of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Proceeding to drive running a vehicle that is already starting to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination will probably just lead to more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Do you want peace of mind?
You should get it removed. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some extent of threat in connection with driving a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with the incorrect fuel. Probable outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel normally include the motor not starting, running unevenly, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so on. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol signs or symptoms, and should you recognise any of them then stop and have it removed right away.

Do not just have any jack-of-all-trades to attend your vehicle. We are Porsche specialists and have got the accreditation and working experience necessary to ensure that you get back on the road with minimum hassle or worry.
