Renault Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Renault is a well-known mistake. And its solution depends on a few factors. If you want to know what you should do about it then keep reading.
Listed below are the most crucial factors to consider when figuring out whether to get the car drained:

  1. What level of Diesel did you put into the Renault, bearing in mind that the fuel capacity of the Renault Scenic is most likely roughly 60 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Scenic will typically not be a huge problem. Experience has taught us that anything under 3 litres (which is close to 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is often able to be sufficiently diluted through entirely filling up the rest of the tank with the correct fuel.
It is pretty unusual to find a car or truck going through difficulties because of under 5% wrong fuel contamination. Keep in mind it is unusual - definitely not impossible to encounter. There are actually certain cars that won't endure any degree of fuel contamination in the slightest.
    2. Somewhere between 3 and 6 litres of Diesel in the Renault (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 scenario. Our expertise demonstrates that as many motorists get away with it as those who don't. Whenever deciding whether or not to chance it and just top it up remember that it is exactly like wagering your car on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything in excess of 6 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Scenic should promptly be drained out as your likelihood of getting away with that level of contamination is very likely lower than one in 50 - definitely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Renault and drove it: Have you seen any performance problems ever since putting the incorrect fuel in the Scenic? If that's the case, get it removed regardless of the quantity of Diesel or even the contamination percentage. Continually driving a car that is now starting to suffer the effect of wrong fuel contamination will likely bring about even more damage affecting your fuel system.
  3. Are you looking for peace of mind?
Then simply just get it emptied. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is invariably some amount of threat associated with driving a Petrol vehicle on fuel contaminated with Diesel. Possible outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, loss of power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and the like. These are several of the most frequently seen Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and if you notice any of them stop and get it drained right away.

Keep away from getting any jack-of-all-trades to try to fix your vehicle. We are Renault experts and have the qualifications and experience necessary to make sure that you are back on the road with little hassle or worry.

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
