Rolls-Royce Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Rolls-Royce is a very common problem. And its remedy depends upon several factors. Assuming you want to know what you need to do about this then please read on.
These are the key factors to be aware of when making a decision whether to have the car drained:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in the Rolls-Royce, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the Rolls-Royce Ghost is probably approximately 83 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, less than 4.15 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Ghost will more often than not not be a massive problem. Experience has shown us that quantities under 4.15 litres (close to 5% of the fuel tank capacity) is often able to be sufficiently diluted simply by wholly filling the remainder of the tank with the correct fuel.
It's rather uncommon to find an automobile going through issues because of below 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very unusual - not impossible to encounter. You will discover a number of vehicles that will not endure any level of fuel contamination at all.
    2. Between 4.15 and 8.3 litres of Diesel in the Rolls-Royce (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our experience has shown us that as many drivers get away with this as those who break down. Whenever trying to decide whether to risk it and simply fill it up remember that it is much like gambling everything on black - you will have a 50/50 chance of it working out.
    3. Anything above 8.3 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Ghost should straightaway be drained seeing that your likelihood of getting away with this level of contamination is probably lower than one in fifty - genuinely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Rolls-Royce and drove it: Have you noted any kind of performance problems after putting the wrong fuel in the Ghost? If that's the case, get it drained irrespective of the amount of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Continuing to drive running a car that is already beginning to suffer from the effect of wrong fuel contamination will just cause progressively more harm being caused to the fuel system components.
  3. Do you need security?
Simply get it removed. Regardless of contamination percentage, there is always some degree of danger affiliated with operating a Petrol engine on Petrol contaminated with the wrong fuel. Possible final outcomes of driving a car on the wrong fuel include things like the engine refusing to start, running lumpy, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, damaged or bunged injectors, and so on. These are several of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and in the event that you notice any of them then stop driving and have it drained asap.

Will getting you to do a fuel drain void my warranty?

Answer

No! The EU Block Exemption Regulations clearly state that "the work can be carried out by as long as that garage uses manufacturer approved parts and correctly follows the manufacturer's service schedule."

Can I top it up with Petrol and add some 2-stroke oil?

Answer

This might work on some vehicles in some cases, but in the majority on instances it won't and you risk damaging the Lambda sensors as well as fuel pump and injectors, just as a regular misfuel.
