Rolls-Royce Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Rolls-Royce is a regular problem. And its solution depends on a few factors. Assuming you would like to find out what it is best to do about it then keep on reading.
Let us discuss the key factors to take into account whenever deciding on whether or not to have the car drained:

  1. What amount of Diesel have you put into the Rolls-Royce, taking into consideration that the fuel capacity of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead is usually about 100 litres?
    1. Hardly any Diesel, something like 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Phantom Drophead will normally not really be a huge problem. Experience has demonstrated to us that quantities under 5 litres (which is approximately 5% of the overall fuel tank volume) is oftentimes able to be completely diluted by means of thoroughly topping the tank with the correct fuel.
It is pretty rare to come across a motor vehicle having issues due to lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Bear in mind that it's unusual - certainly not impossible to encounter. There are actually some vehicles that won't stand any quantity of contamination whatsoever.
    2. Somewhere between 5 and 10 litres of Diesel in the Rolls-Royce (from 5 to 10%) is more of a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has demonstrated that as many motorists get away with it as all those who don't. When you are figuring out whether to chance it and basically fill it up bear in mind that it is the same thing as wagering it all on black - you have a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything more than 10 litres of Diesel in a Petrol Phantom Drophead should really promptly be removed seeing as your probability of driving with this amount of contamination is almost certainly lower than one in 50 - really big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Rolls-Royce and drove it: Have you noticed any kind of performance issues ever since putting the wrong fuel in the Phantom Drophead? If you have, have it removed no matter the quantity of Diesel or the contamination ratio. Still running a car that is now starting to suffer the effect of fuel contamination will just cause more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Are you looking for security?
In that case get it emptied. Whatever the contamination percentage, there is invariably a certain level of threat resulting from running a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Possible final outcomes of driving a vehicle on the incorrect fuel can include the motor refusing to start, running unevenly, losing power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn or clogged injectors, and so forth. These are some of the commonest Diesel in Petrol warning signs, and if you notice any of them stop and have it drained right now.
