Rover Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling Diesel in a Petrol Rover is a usual problem. And exactly what you want to do about it will depend on various factors. In case you would like to find out what you must do about it then please read on.
Listed below are the key factors to take into account whenever deciding whether or not to have it drained:

  1. What level of Diesel have you put in to the Rover, considering that the fuel tank capacity of your Rover 216 Si is probably approximately 50 litres?
    1. A modest amount of Diesel, something like 2.5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 216 Si will normally not necessarily be a significant problem. Experience has proven to us that an amount under 2.5 litres (5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is usually able to be sufficiently diluted by means of completely filling up the remainder of the tank with the appropriate fuel.
It is rather unusual to find an automobile going through problems due to below 5% incorrect fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is infrequently found - not impossible to encounter. You can get some cars that don't endure any degree of contamination at all.
    2. Somewhere between 2.5 and 5 litres of Diesel in the Rover (5 to 10%) is a 50/50 situation. Our practical experience has confirmed that as many drivers get away with it as those who break down. Whenever you are deciding upon whether or not to risk it and simply top it up bear in mind that it is much like gambling your car on black - you have got a 50/50 possibility of it working.
    3. Anything over 5 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 216 Si should really as soon as possible be removed seeing that your probability of driving with this quantity of contamination is probably lower than one in fifty - definitely big odds.
  2. Put Diesel in a Petrol Rover and drove it: Have you noticed any performance problems after putting the wrong fuel in the 216 Si? If you have, get it removed no matter the amount of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continuing to drive running a motor vehicle that is now beginning to suffer from the effects of wrong fuel contamination can just bring about more harm affecting your fuel system parts.
  3. Would you like assurance?
Then simply just get it drained. Regardless of the contamination percentage, there is inevitably a certain level of danger caused by driving a Petrol motor on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Possible results of driving a car on the wrong fuel can include the motor not starting, running lumpy, loss in power, degradation of the high-pressure pump, worn out or clogged injectors, and so on. These are a few of the most typical Diesel in Petrol symptoms, and should you recognise any of them stop driving and have it drained asap.
