Rover Fuel Drain

ABOUT

Filling up with Diesel in a Petrol Rover is a very common mistake to make. And what you have to do about it depends upon several different things. Assuming you would like to know what you must do about it then please read on.
Listed here are the most important factors to be aware of whenever figuring out whether or not to get a fuel drain:

  1. How much Diesel have you put in the Rover, taking into account that the fuel tank capacity of the Rover 623 Si is usually approximately 65 litres?
    1. A tiny quantity of Diesel, as little as 3.25 litres of Diesel in a Petrol 623 Si will quite often not be a huge problem. Experience has proven to us that quantities less than 3.25 litres (which is approximately 5% of the entire fuel tank volume) is oftentimes able to be sufficiently diluted simply by completely filling up the tank with the correct fuel.
It's very rare to find a car or truck suffering from issues because of lower than 5% wrong fuel contamination. Do not forget that it is very uncommon - definitely not impossible to find. You will discover some cars that don't stand any quantity of contamination at all.
    2. In between 3.25 and 6.5 litres of Diesel in the Rover (5 to 10%) is really a 50/50 scenario. Our working experience has confirmed that as many people get away with it as all those who break down. Any time you're deciding upon whether to chance it and just fill it up consider that it is the same thing as gambling everything on black - you have got a 50/50 chance of it being ok.
    3. Anything over 6.5 litres of Diesel in your Petrol 623 Si should really straightaway be removed because your likelihood of driving with this quantity of contamination is undoubtedly below one in fifty - definitely long odds.
  2. Put some Diesel in a Petrol Rover and drove it: Have you noted any performance issues ever since putting the incorrect fuel in your 623 Si? If so, get it emptied regardless of the quantity of Diesel or the contamination percentage. Continually driving an automobile that is now beginning to suffer the effects of wrong fuel contamination will likely be responsible for more and more harm affecting the fuel system.
  3. Do you want assurance?
In that case get it emptied. Whatever the contamination ratio, there is inevitably some extent of danger caused by operating a Petrol vehicle on Petrol contaminated with Diesel. Likely implications of driving on the wrong fuel include the motor not starting, running unevenly, reduced power, wearing of the high-pressure pump, worn out or bunged injectors, and so forth. These are a few of the most typical Diesel in Petrol signs and symptoms, and should you observe any of them stop driving and get it removed as soon as possible.
